Robust Construction
Combining corrosion-resistant materials and robust construction to deliver reliable performance
Robust Construction
Built for demanding lifting environments, the PortX Winch combines a robust steel body and zinc-plated drum with a stainless steel cable, delivering long-lasting durability, corrosion resistance, and reliable performance in tough industrial applications.
The heavy-duty steel construction provides the strength required for frequent use in challenging environments, helping operators lift with confidence while reducing the risk of damage from everyday knocks, impacts, and harsh site conditions. The zinc-plated drum adds an extra layer of protection against corrosion, extending the service life of the winch and helping to reduce maintenance requirements over time.
Lifting & Safety
Designed to support material & personnel lifting.
Lifting & Safety
Designed for safe personnel lifting and rescue, the PortX Winch supports personnel lifting up to 140kg and can also be used to lift materials up to 300kg when required. When paired with the PortX Rescue SRL, the system is compliant with EN 1496:2017 Class A, providing a trusted solution for controlled personnel access, retrieval, and rescue.
The PortX Winch gives teams the flexibility to safely raise and lower tools, pumps, sensors, and other equipment using the same system. This reduces the need for additional lifting devices on site, helping organisations simplify equipment management, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency.
For confined space teams, utilities, water and wastewater operators, and infrastructure maintenance crews, fewer products to transport, inspect, and maintain means faster deployment and greater operational flexibility when site conditions change.
Controlled load handling
Precise control, smooth operation, and confident load positioning
Controlled load handling
The PortX Winch is engineered with integrated load management and cable control features that work together to deliver smooth operation, secure load holding, and dependable performance throughout the lifting process. Whether lifting personnel or equipment, operators benefit from greater precision, improved reliability, and confidence that the system will perform as expected.
At the heart of the system is a spur-gear mechanism incorporating a load pressure brake, designed to provide controlled lifting and lowering while securely holding the load whenever operation stops. This allows operators to position personnel or materials accurately and maintain control throughout the task, particularly in applications where stability and precision are critical.
Supporting this is an integrated cable tensioner, which maintains consistent cable tension and ensures even cable layering across the drum. By preventing loose winding and reducing the risk of cable bunching or tangling, the tensioner helps maintain smooth operation, protects the cable from unnecessary wear, and contributes to long-term system reliability.
The double cable clasp provides an additional level of security by ensuring the cable remains firmly retained during operation. This feature reinforces the integrity of the lifting system and offers added reassurance during routine lifting, access, and rescue activities.
Fast setup & deployment
Reduce setup time, minimise operator effort, and keep lifting operations moving
Fast setup & deployment
When time on site matters, the PortX Winch is designed to help operators get to work quickly and efficiently. Combining a free-spool cable system, adjustable-length handle, and low crank force, it reduces the effort required to deploy, operate, and reposition the winch throughout the working day.
The free-spool cable system allows operators to deploy the cable rapidly without manually winding the drum, helping to speed up setup and minimise time spent preparing equipment before a lift.
Once in operation, the adjustable-length handle gives users the flexibility to adapt the winch to the task at hand, providing faster operation for lighter loads and increased leverage when additional lifting force is required.
Complementing this is a low crank force of just 15 daN, reducing the physical effort needed to lift and lower loads while maintaining smooth, controlled operation.
By simplifying cable deployment and reducing the effort required during operation, the PortX Winch helps teams work more efficiently while reducing operator fatigue. The ergonomic design promotes greater comfort during repetitive lifting tasks, helping to minimise physical strain and improve productivity across the working day.
Adaptable to every lift
A flexible winching solution that adapts to different lifting requirements.
Adaptable to every lift
The PortX Personnel Winch has been engineered to integrate seamlessly across the Reid lifting & safety portfolio, providing a versatile lifting solution that can be deployed wherever materials handling, safe access and rescue capabilities are required; allowing organisations to utilise the same winch across multiple applications and locations.
The PortX Winch features 20m of stainless steel cable as standard, providing sufficient reach for the vast majority ofapplications. The stainless steel construction delivers excellent corrosion resistance, making it well suited to harsh environments including wastewater facilities, coastal infrastructure, utilities, and other demanding industrial settings.
At the heart of the system’s flexibility is the Universal Bracket, designed to provide fast, secure attachment of the PortX Personnel Winch to compatible Reid systems. The bracket remains installed on the structure, enabling the winch to be quickly fitted or removed when required, reducing setup time and simplifying equipment transfers between sites. Its universal design eliminates the need for multiple product-specific mounting solutions, creating a standardised approach across lifting, access, and rescue operations.
This compatibility allows organisations to move equipment easily between davits, gantries, and ppe systems, maximising utilisation of existing assets while reducing equipment inventories.
